In southern Yunnan, the Tropic of Cancer gently passes through a land favored by heaven.
This is the birthplace of Pu’er tea, the rising star of China’s specialty coffee, the northernmost reach of the tropical rainforest, and the ancestral home of the Dai, Bulang, Hani, and Wa peoples for generations.
This will be a deep exploration guided by the clue of taste. Over 12 days, we will depart from Mojiang, the Twin City on the Tropic of Cancer, and travel west, delving into the world’s first tea-themed UNESCO World Heritage site, Jingmai Mountain, to feel the pulse of thousand-year-old ancient tea forests; personally roast our own beans at a specialty coffee estate in Pu’er; savor award-winning Geisha coffee in the rainforest sanctuary of Menghai; and finally arrive deep in the tropical rainforest of Xishuangbanna, experiencing another rhythm of life in Dai stilt houses and during the Water-Splashing Festival revelry.
Guided throughout by a deeply knowledgeable local multilingual cultural guide, we will open a door to the secrets of southern Yunnan through the most authentic market visits, the most genuine home feasts, and the most professional coffee tastings.
