Dianhong Tea

Tracing the Origin of an Aromatic Tea Expedition in Xishuangbanna

Cultural Story

Dianhong’s foundation is the Yunnan large-leaf varietal, and Xishuangbanna is its homeland and genetic treasure trove. Dianhong’s strong, brisk, and fresh flavor defines a classic Chinese black tea style. Here, we trace its terroir origins.

Exclusive Experiences

  1. How many ‘ancestors’ of tea plants can I see in the germplasm resource garden? We take you to a tea research institute’s resource garden. You can touch and compare leaves of different varietals, directly understanding the Yunnan large-leaf varietal’s innate gifts.
  2. How can I make a cup of the ‘original’ Dianhong in a traditional Dai house? Inside a traditional stilt-house, you’ll personally experience withering, rolling, and observe how leaves fully ferment in Xishuangbanna’s climate, turning coppery-red.
  3. Facing mao cha of different flavors, can I blend my own signature? Under a tea master’s guidance, taste different flavored mao cha. You can try mixing by proportion to personally create a Dianhong blend with your personal mark.
  4. What happens when Dianhong meets tropical fruits? On the terrace, you can taste your creation, or try adding local lemon or passionfruit, experiencing the distinct delight of interwoven flavors.
  5. Before leaving, can I take a unique souvenir? You can seal your satisfactory tea into a specially prepared ceramic jar we provide. From this homeland, take a jar of Dianhong carrying Xishuangbanna memories belonging to you.
